Group Courses
The Central Russian Language School offers a range of evening Russian Language Group Courses to suit all ability levels, from Beginners, through Elementary and Intermediates, to Advanced and Conversational classes.
You will be taught by teachers who are native Russian speakers and are qualified and experienced in teaching Russian as a foreign language.
Class sizes vary from 5 to 10 students.
Beginners Course
The Beginners Course is for those who have never studied the Russian language before and have no knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet. During the course students will learn the Russian alphabet and some basics of the Russian grammar. At the end of the course students should be able to read, introduce themselves, count to 100, be able to form simple sentences to describe their families, where they live and what they do. Using some memorized phrases students should be able to ask for directions, order a meal, give their phone numbers, ask for the time, and enquire about prices.

False Beginners Course
The False Beginners Course is for those who have studied some Russian language many years ago and may have forgotten most of it. The course will consist of same topics as the Beginners course plus some additional material as false beginners usually learn faster than total beginners.

Elementary Course
The Elementary Course is for those who have completed the Beginners course or have a basic knowledge of the Russian language. The course involves an introduction to Aspects of the Verb and Verbs of Motion and also further study of the Russian case system. Students learn to converse on a number of basic topics, including Family, Weather, Restaurants, Shopping and Telephone Conversation. During the course students will read short and simple texts.

Intermediate course
The Intermediate Course aims to develop further the student´s knowledge of the Russian language case system, aspects of verbs, verbs of motion and to increase their vocabulary. Students will learn how to give complicated directions, describe a sequence of events which happened in the past or things they used to do in the past, compare and contrast. Conversational topics will include Work, Holidays, Travel, Health, Russian Customs and Etiquette.

Advanced Course
The Advanced Course focuses on Russian grammar at the advanced level, idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms, reading and analysis of newspaper articles and literary texts and the improvement of conversational skills.
